How to Play

"Play Connect Fish online for free. Connect Fish is a Mahjong Solitaire game themed after sea creatures. Match pairs of fish tiles with a path toward each other to clear them from the field. The paths must have no more than 2 right angle turns. Clear the field before the level timers expire & play through 30 stages. Earn a high score by creating a long chain move sequence. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
Select Help to learn the game’s rules.
Select High Scores to view the game’s leaderboard.
Select the gear button on the bottom right corner to open the following controls:
- Use the speaker and music buttons to turn the game’s sound on and off.
- Use Reset to clear your game progress.
- Use the drop-down list on the bottom left corner of the screen to choose the game’s language.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

      - Tap on the stones with your fingers to select them.
      - Controls and indicators
        The game’s controls and indicators are located at the right side of the screen. From the top, they are as follows:
        Box

        First row, left to right:
        Pause button
        Enlarge button: Lets you switch between windowed and full-screen modes
        Second row, left to right:
        Speaker button: Turns the game’s audio effects on and off
        Music button: Turns the game’s music on and off
        Hint button
        Shuffle button
        On the level selection screen are the following controls:
        The level icons of this game are arranged in a wave pattern on the center row of the screen. Select and drag left or right to navigate.
        The bottom row contains the following controls:
        Menu button: Takes you back to the welcome screen
        Your Total Score
        Play button: Starts the game

        Levels
        Levels are unlocked sequentially:
        Only the first level is playable at the start of the game.
        Finishing one level automatically unlocks the next one.
        Select Next Level on the win screen to return you to the level selection screen.
        There are 30 levels in this game.
        You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.
        Basic rules
        Select 2 identical tiles to remove them from the field. The tiles are themed after sea creatures.
        The tiles must be connectable by a single path with no more than 2 right angles.
        Adjacent pairs of tiles can also be selected and removed.
        Remove all the tiles onscreen to clear the level before the timer runs out.
        You start with 1 minute and 8 seconds on the clock on the first level.
        Later levels have a shorter time limit and more tiles.
        You fail the level if you don’t clear all the stones in time.
        You can try again.
        You can also end your playthrough. This lets you save your score in the leaderboard.
        Scoring
        You have 2 scores in this game:
        Your level score represents your best score in a level.
        Your total score is the sum of all your level scores.
        Level score
        Every pair of tiles you clear adds 50 points to your level score.
        You also receive a chain bonus each time you remove 2 or more pairs in rapid succession.
        Your base bonus from a chain is 30 points.
        The longer your chain, the higher your bonus. For each match it grows geometrically: 30, 60, 100, 150, 210, 280, 360, 450, 550, 660, 780, 910, 1,050, 1,200, 1,360, 1,530, 1,710, 1,900, 2,100, etc.
        Wait too long and your chain breaks. You automatically receive the points you’ve earned from the pairs you already cleared.
        Periodically you can make longer distant matches to give yourself time to make other matches.
        Your chain bonus starts anew at the beginning of each level.
        After finishing, you receive 50 bonus points for every second remaining on the timer.
        Your level score is shown below the level’s icon on the selection screen.
        Total score
        You can improve your total score by playing more levels or replaying earlier levels.
        Your total score is shown in the bottom center of the level selection screen.
        There are two ways to save your total score:
        Play through all 30 levels.
        End the playthrough after a game over.
        Assistance
        You have 3 hints and shuffles to help you with the level.
        Selecting the hint button will show you any valid pair of tiles.
        Shuffles rearrange the tiles in the field. This is useful if you want to make more obvious pairs.
        Progressing to the next level replenishes your hints and shuffles.
        However, hints and manual shuffles cost points. Use them sparingly.
        Hints cost 200 points.
        Manual shuffles cost 300 points.
        Strategy
        The key to earning a high score in this game is to try to create a chain match which lasts for the entire level on each stage.
        Since you can not replay levels you can refresh your web browser window before clearing a level to restart it over again.
        When you are making short matches it helps to mix it up and make some matches with more distance between them so you have a longer period to make your next move.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Connect tile match games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
