How to Play

Play Pixel Artist online for free. Pixel Artist is a pixelated paint by number idle game where you can choose to paint dozens of unique images which are classified as animals, food, humans, stuff, monsters, plants, or vehicles. This is a great game for helping to teach kids about color, drawing, and attention to detail. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Click the golden play button in the lower center part of the game’s welcome screen.
The welcome screen also has a sound control button in the upper right corner.
Select the category you want to color: animals, food, humans, stuff, monsters, plants, or vehicles.
- Choose the item you want to color in that category.
- The game automatically saves which items you have completed coloring.
  - If you partially complete an object then exit you will have to start it over from scratch, but completed images are saved in your web browser.
  - Game Controls
    - Desktop
      - Use your mouse left click button to scroll through categories and select which image you want to color.
      - Use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in or out on the image.
        You can also left click outside of the image and move your mouse to control what part of the image you are zoomed in on.
        Click on the color which corresponds to a number and color all the cells matching that number.
        The cells which need to be colored show a small gray square in them when they match the color you have selected from below.
        You can tap the left click once on each cell to color them one at a time, or you can hold the click in and scroll across a set of cells which need colored.
        When you have colored all squares of a particular color the number at the bottom of the screen will be replaced by a checkmark.
        Select another color and repeat the process.
        You can complete a number at a time, work on certain areas of the picture while rotating through colors, or go in any order you like.
        The fastest way to complete the images is to do the colors which are rarely used first & then go back over the image with the more widely used colors. You typically won’t be able to color over a previously colored square if that color set is already complete.
        If you make a mistake you can click on a cell to erase the color you previously applied to it.
        Mobile
        This game is more fun and relaxing to play on desktop than on mobile.
        Tap your finger to select a color or to paint a color.
        You can use your fingers to pinch to zoom in or out.
        Be careful with spinning the orientation of your cell phone while playing this game as a stand alone web app. If you go from portrait to landscape and try to go back to portrait it will trigger a rotation layover which is not easy to get rid of.
        In the upper left corner of the game there is a home button.
        In the upper right corner of the game there is a button to delete the completed image.
        Printable Paint by Number Pictures
        If you want to use this game to make printable images you can zoom in on a picture, take a screenshot of it, stretch that picture to be full screen & print it out.
        Target Audience
        This game is fun for younger kids, people who love pixel art, and the artistically challenged who would love to easily create a cute colored drawing. 😉
